물 대신 녹차·커피·맥주는 ‘글쎄’

커피, 홍차, 녹차 등과 같은 카페인 음료는 많이 마실수록 체내 수분을 빼내는 역효과를 낸다. 카페인은 이뇨작용을 촉진해 몸속 수분을 배출한다. 커피는 마신 양의 2배, 차는 1.5배 정도의 수분을 배출시킨다. 주스, 탄산음료 같은 당(糖)이 들어간 음료도 탈수를 유발한다. 가당 음료를 마시면 체내 삼투압이 높아져 그만큼의 물이 더 필요하기 때문이다. 맥주도 마신 양보다 소변으로 빠져나가는 수분 양이 더 많다.

건강에 도움이 되도록 물을 마시는 방법을 알아본다.

▷마시는 양: 하루 최대 2L=하루 수분 배출량 만큼 물로 수분을 보충해주면 된다. 성인의 하루 수분 배출량은 3.1L 정도다. 대소변으로 1.6L, 땀·호흡·피부로 각각 0.5L씩 빠져 나간다. 보통 성인은 먹는 음식을 통해 1~1.5L의 수분을 섭취한다. 재활용(세포 대사 중에 생긴 물) 수분이 0.1L 정도이므로, 나머지 1.4~2L를 물을 마셔서 보충하면 된다.

물을 얼마나 마셔야 하는지는 체중, 활동량, 날씨 등에 따라 달라진다. 을지병원 가정의학과 권길영 교수는 "체중이 무거울수록 물 필요량도 많아진다"며 "체중에 30~33을 곱하면 최소한의 하루 물 필요량(mL)이 나온다"고 말했다. 체중이 70kg인 성인은 2100~2310mL(2.1~2.3L)를 마시면 된다는 것이다. 날씨가 덥거나 활동량이 많아서 상의가 젖을만큼땀을흘렸다면더많이마셔야한다.권교수는"소변횟수가줄어들고색깔이짙어지면몸의수분이부족 한 것"이라고 말했다.

▷과도하면 이롭지 않아=신장 기능이 정상인 사람은 물을 많이 마셔도 2시간쯤 뒤 소변을 통해서 대부분 배출된다. 따라서,많이마신다고더이로울건없다.중요한것은물마시는속도다.한꺼번에너무많은물을마시면저나트륨 혈증이 발생해서 두통·구역질·현기증·근육경련 등이 일어날 수 있다. 가천대길병원 가정의학과 서희선 교수는 “갈증 이 심해도 한꺼번에 0.5L 이상의 물은 마시지 말라”고 말했다.

▷한시간에200mL한잔씩=물은한시간간격으로한번에200mL한잔씩마시는게가장좋다.특히,노년층은 신장의 수분 재흡수율이 떨어지며, 뇌의 시상하부에 있는 갈증 중추가 노화해서 몸 안에 수분이 부족해도 갈증을 심 하게 느끼지 못한다. 물은 벌컥벌컥 들이키지 말고 한두 모금씩 나눠서 씹어먹듯 마시자.

▷녹차·커피·맥주는 탈수 유발=카페인이 든 녹차나 커피, 알코올이 든 맥주는 이뇨작용이 있어서 많이 마실수록 체 내 수분을 빼내는 역효과를 낸다. 서희선 교수는 “커피나 녹차를 5잔(1L)마시면 1.5L 가량의 수분이 배출된다”고 말 했다. 맥주도 마신 양보다 소변으로 빠져나가는 수분량이 더 많다.

▷물 많이 마셔도 살 안쪄=‘물만 마셔도 살이 찐다’는 말은 사실이 아니다. 물은 0kcal로 열량이 없다. 일시적으로 체중 이 늘겠지만, 심장과 신장이 정상이면 이뇨 작용 때문에 평소 체중으로 돌아온다. 그러나, 심장이나 신장에 이상이 있으면체내에수분이축적돼체중이늘수있다.건강한사람이물을마시고살찐것처럼보이는건부종때문이다.
